How to Select the Right Refractory Formulation for Your Furnace
Selecting the right refractory formulation begins with identifying the lining zone and its operating conditions. Match the chemical composition (Al₂O₃, MgO, SiC, ZrO₂) to the corrosion mechanism, then specify density and cold crushing strength to match the mechanical loads. Finally, confirm the thermal-shock rating against the campaign cycling profile. XZK engineers can review your furnace parameters and propose a full zonal grade schedule within 24 hours.
Selection Criteria (Quick Reference)
- Temperature & Atmosphere: Identify the max service temperature, oxygen partial pressure, and reducing/oxidizing atmosphere.
- Slag Chemistry: Match the brick chemistry (acidic vs basic) to your slag CaO/SiO₂ ratio.
- Thermal Cycling: Intermittent or continuous operation determines the thermal-shock rating needed.
- Mechanical Load: Bulk density and CCS must withstand stack pressure, scrap impact, and expansion stress.
